Barclays and colleagues in 1993 claimed that the risk of accidents in drivers with ADHD was 3 to 4 times higher than other drivers. In other studies that have been done, the above claim has been rejected, but it has been shown that drivers who have ADHD disorder with other disorders such as Objection and disobedience disorder (ODD) or conduct disorder (CD) have a higher risk of driving accidents than those who have just ADHD.
Another study in Iran focused on the role of adult ADHD in driving risky behaviors, with difficult mediation in emotion regulation. The results indicate that slippage and driving errors due to their cognitive roots are directly affected by ADHD symptoms but driving violations, because, are affected by emotional and motivational factors, indirectly and difficultly related to the emotional regulation of ADHD symptoms.
