Countdown to Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020: where are we now?

We are pleased to announce that the international Conference on Safe Communities, the 24th plenary in the successful series, will be held in Tabriz, Iran, from Tuesday, September 3rd to Thursday, September 5th 2019.
Tabriz is famous for its tourist attractions like ancient history, spectacular sights, traditional Azeri music, unique and delicious cuisines. It is worth to visit them during your short time stay. Tabriz was named World Carpet Weaving City by the World Crafts Council in 2015. Also, Bazaar of Tabriz was inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 2010. Finally, Tabriz is officially designated as the Tourism Capital of Islamic Countries in 2018 by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
Tabriz International Safe Community Support Center, as the sole certified member and representative of Iran in the International Network of Safe Community Support Centers organizes the 24th International Conference on Safe Communities, jointly with relevant national and international authorities.
One of key areas deemed in safe Communities is traffic injury prevention and its promotion. Traffic injuries account for a main percentage of injuries and accidents which vary between 50-62% in difference countries like Iran. Traffic injuries have been considered crucial problems and the economic burden in countries, so the goal of stabilizing and reducing the forecast level of road traffic deaths was introduced. Besides, the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011–2020 was officially proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in March 2010. It is estimated that 5 millions lives could be saved on the world's roads during the decade. The goal is deemed to reach around the world. The upcoming International Conference will provide a precious opportunity for safe community related researchers to foster exchanges between countries on their global distance and the goal, the countries road traffic level, experiments and experiences to pave the path for having safe communities.

Important dates:
- Submission of abstract/abstracts open on 3 November 2018
- Deadline for abstract submission: 3 April 2019
- End of early bird registration: 3 May 2019
- Deadline for Travelling seminar submission: 3 June 2019
- The 24th International Safe Communities Conference: 3- 5 September 2019
- Traveling seminar: 6 September 2019
- Post Conference Seminar: 7 September 2019
It is necessary to mention that the plan will have different sessions like opening ceremony, parallel sessions like some workshops, exhibitions, closing ceremony, the last day with social events and recreational services and repasts.

Venue Information:
The conference will be held in a glorious five star hotel owning fully equipped halls with high-tech audio-visual facilities and a large number of seats.
Accommodations:
There are 65 hotels in Tabriz, 31 of them are grand hotels. A couple of hotels will be arranged to host the guests from all over the world. We will also provide limited institutional accommodations for lower price.
Transportation:
Public transportation in Tabriz is facilitated conveniently using a couple of modes as follows:
Intra cities transportation: Airplane (weekly 20 international direct flights and 200 domestic direct flights to Tabriz).
Inner city transportation: train, express buses, taxis, bicycles (for rent).
Scholarships:
It is planned to provide several full and partial scholarships for Young researchers and students encouraged to attend the conference.
Committees:
We will set up three main committees and a couple of subcommittees as follows:
International organizing committee (IOC):
We will invite several principal members to be on the international organizing committee (IOC) from Armenia, Australia, Austria, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Japan, Korea, Sweden, Taiwan, and USA (according to alphabetical order).
National Organizing & Executive Committee:
This committee will include major people from Iranian Traffic Police, the Asian Network of Safe Community, Iranian Emergency Medical Services center, Safety Promotion and Injury Prevention Research Center, Ministry of Health, Iranian International Safe Community Support Center, Tabriz University of Medical Silences.
Local organizing committee (LOC):
Several national authorities and organizations will be on the local organizing committee.
